JACKSON, Miss-- The University of Mobile men's tennis team improved to 4-0 with Gulf Coast Athletic Conference victories over Belhaven and Tougaloo Saturday. The Rams shut out both teams, beating Belhaven 9-0 and routing Tougaloo 8-0. Against Belhaven, Alejandro Vial and Guilherme Lorencon teamed up for an 8-2 win, Shaun Wintzell and Ricky Weghorst won 8-1, and Gustavo Godoi and Sam Perlmutter cruised to an 8-0 victory. In singles action, Vial won 6-0, 6-4; Wintzell rolled 6-0, 6-1; Weghorst won 8-0; Lorencon won 6-0, 6-2; Godoi won 8-3; and Perlmutter capped it with a 6-0, 6-0 win. In the rout of Tougaloo, Vial and Lorencon teamed up for an 8-0 win; Weghorst and Jesus Urmeneta won 8-1; and the team of Godoi and Perlmutter won by default. On the singles side against the Bulldogs, Vial won 6-0, 6-1; Weghorst won 6-0, 6-0; Lorencon won 6-0, 6-0; Godoi won 6-1, 6-0; Perlmutter won 6-0, 5-0 (did not finish); and Ryan Ogborn won by default. The Rams are 4-0 overall and 4-0 in GCAC action and next play in the Bash at the Beach March 10-11 in Gulf Shores. They will battle Shorter College, LeTourneau and Transylvania in the two-day event.
