Uwe Tittl Leaving Soccer to Build Men's Tennis Program

MOBILE, Ala— After 15 years of success as the head coach of the University of Mobile’s women’s soccer program, Uwe Tittl is stepping down to take over the rebuilding of the new men’s tennis program, along with his current women’s tennis job.

Tittl will leave behind a long history of success coaching women’s soccer, and if his short time in tennis is any indication, he will leave his mark there, as well.

“Uwe has been tremendous for our school and our women’s soccer program,” Vice President of Campus Affairs Mike Blaylock said. “We are excited to see what he can do with his full focus on our tennis programs.”

In 15 years running the Lady Rams soccer team, Tittl compiled a career record of 193-94-8, which will place him 4th all-time in the NAIA in wins. The 6-time GCAC Coach of the Year also lead his team to the NAIA National Championship with a 24-0-0 record in 1997, while taking home NAIA and NSCAA National Coach of the Year honors.

Tittl led his soccer teams to 8 conference crowns (1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2000, 2004, 2005), 3 Region XIII Championships (1997, 1998, 2000) and 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the NAIA National Tournament.

Now in his 5th season with women’s tennis, he has compiled a record of 65-24 and is on his way to leading the Lady Rams to a 3rd-consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance. Last year, Tittl won GCAC Coach of the Year honors, while leading his squad to a conference championship and a 13th place finish at the NAIA National Tournament.

“It is obviously tough to leave a soccer program that I built from the ground up,” Tittl said. “But I look forward to taking on this new challenge and enjoying plenty of success in tennis.”
