Craig Bogar
Cross Country & Track Head Coach, University of Mobile
Coach Bogar enters
his first year at the helm of UM’s successful cross country & track
programs. While continuing to serve as Athletic Director, Bogar will
return to serving in a capacity that he is all too familiar with as he
served as head coach of the men’s and women’s swimming teams at Loyola
University – New Orleans.
Bogar holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in business administration from Bryant College in Smithfield, Rhode
Island. At Bryant, Bogar was a varsity swimmer, served as team captain
in his junior and senior years and was voted Most Valuable Performer in
his senior year. He was also the recipient of the Vincent Votolato Sr.
Scholar-Athlete Graduation Award. In addition, Bogar holds a Master of
Arts degree in recreation administration from the University of
Maryland, where he was a graduate assistant.
A successful collegiate swimmer, Bogar
specialized in the distance swimming events, and applies those
principles to training distance runners. His methods of middle-distance
and distance training includes specificity, overload, recovery and
adaptation. Bogar's primary focus is to improve a runner's oxygen
consumption, lactate tolerance and speed range. His goal for the Rams
is to strive for conference, regional and national honors year in and
year out. Coach Bogar also emphasizes a commitment to academics and
makes it a priority that his athletes succeed in the classroom.
Bogar is
married to Dr. Christine Bogar, who is a counselor and adjunct professor
at the University of South Alabama. The Bogar's have two daughters.
Corinne is a senior at Daphne High School and Brooke is in the eighth
grade at Spanish Fort School. The Bogars are members of Spanish Fort
United Methodist Church.

Josh Ginsburg
Cross Country & Track Assistant Coach, University of Mobile
Entering his first season as
the University of Mobile’s assistant coach for cross country and track,
Coach Ginsburg will aide Coach Bogar in continuing the tradition of
excellence that has been formed at UM.
Having been a member of three
men’s conference championship teams, Coach Ginsburg will pull from his
experiences of training with former Kenyan, European and talented
American teammates. He also trained under two-time NAIA Cross Country
Coach of the Year Scott Simmons whose multi-faceted distance training
philosophy will be incorporated into the Rams training program.
An All-Conference runner and
national championship competitor in cross country Ginsburg was also a
high school and collegiate All-American in track & field.
The former
Junior American record holder and winner of several junior national
championships at varying distances, Ginsburg also competed at many of
the nation’s top races including Penn Relays and Millrose Games. At the
conclusion of his collegiate career in 2000 Ginsburg spent a year as a
member of the PowerBar Elite team before hanging up his shoes to pursue
his MBA and full-time career in Sports Marketing.
