Lady Rams Add Another for 2009

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile softball will need to reload for the 2009 season, with 8 seniors on the 2008 roster, and the Lady Rams took another step in doing that by inking Grove Hill’s Tess Ackerman for the 2009 season.

Ackerman, who played softball and volleyball at Clarke Prep School and played for the West Florida Elite Travel Team, is looking forward to joining a championship caliber collegiate team.

“I really liked Coach (Terri) McCormick and she made me feel real comfortable,” Ackerman said. “They have a really successful program with a national championship, and I’m looking forward to being apart of that.”

The middle infielder qualified for the State Softball Tournament all four years at Clarke, and won the State Championship in volleyball every year at school. The past two seasons, Ackerman was named All-State in both sports.

In softball, Ackerman has been named the team’s best infielder, MVP and captain. She also won the MVP award for volleyball and was named MVP of the Volleyball State Tournament this past season. Even with all of the accolades and accomplishments, Ackerman still knows it’s all about the team.

“I want to come in and try and be a leader,” Ackerman said. “I’m going to bring a great attitude and try to get everyone comfortable together and working hard.”

The Lady Rams will kick off their 2008 season with an exhibition game at home on February 14th against Chipola Junior College at 2:00 pm.
