No. 2 UM Softball Completes Double-Header Sweep Of Martin Luther

MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 2-ranked UM softball team completed a double-header sweep of Martin Luther College defeating the Knights 17-0 in the first game and 10-0 in the nightcap.

Kirby Baxter (6-1) picked up the win in the first game by striking out nine and giving up only one hit in five innings of work. Stephanie Landrum (4-for-4 with three RBIs) and Denisse Fuenmayor (3-for-4 with four RBIs) helped lead a line-up that was in no shortage of run support.

In the nightcap it was freshman Linden Jones (2-1) picking up the win for the Rams with four strikeouts in five innings pitched. Meredith Tanner (1-for-2 with 2 RBIs) and Brenda Box (2-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI) led a blistering offensive attack at the plate for Mobile.

The Rams, 9-3, will play back-to-back days as they host Millsaps College for a Wednesday double-header starting at 4 p.m.
