No. 2 Rams Sweep
Double-Header With Millsaps
MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Mobile softball team
(11-3) swept their second double-header for the second day in a row,
defeating Millsaps College 7-2 in the first game and 9-1 in the nightcap.
Kirby Baxter (7-1) pitched a complete game, striking
out seven in seven innings of work. Meredith Tanner (2-for-4 with three
RBIs), Stephanie Landrum (2-for-4 with two RBIs) and Brenda Box (2-for-3
with three runs scored) helped pace the Rams offensive attack at the
plate.
Anne McLean (2-1) picked up the win in the nightcap,
throwing seven innings and striking out five. Once again it was Stephanie
Landrum (2-for-3 with three RBIs) who helped lead the Rams with Meredith
Tanner also driving in three runs by going 2-for-3 at the plate.
The Rams will pack their bags and head south for the
winter as they and Spring Hill College co-host the 16-team Gulf Coast
Invitational in Orange Beach, Ala. Featuring nine teams ranked in the
top-25, the tournament will run from March 5-7.
