Rams Sweep Second
Double-Header Of The Week
MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 2-ranked UM softball team
(19-5) swept their second double-header of the week as they
came-from-behind in both games to win 7-4 and 3-2 against 17th-ranked
Lee University. Mobile erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth
inning in the first game and Meredith Tanner ripped a solo home run to
snap a 2-2 tie to lift the Rams in the nightcap.
Irene Elliott helped the Rams overcome a 4-1 deficit
by sparking a five-run, bottom-of-the-fourth inning. Pinch-hitting for
Molly Walker, Elliott hit an RBI single to drive in Winter Guthrie. Brenda
Box (2-for-3 with two RBIs), Stephanie Landrum and Meredith Tanner
(1-for-4 with two RBIs) each drove in runs to help Mobile come from behind
to win the first game.
Ann McLean picked up the win as she scattered seven
hits
and three earned runs over seven innings.
In the nightcap the score was tied 2-2 in the bottom
of the sixth inning when Meredith
Tanner belted her second home run of the season to lift the Rams to the win.
Sylvia
Bedgood (2-for-2 with one RBI and one run scored) helped get the job done
at the plate in the second game and Linden Jones picked up the win, as she
pitched seven innings, surrendering four hits and one earned run while
striking out four.
