UM Softball Remains
Perfect At Home
MOBILE, Ala. – The 4th-ranked UM Softball
team (23-5) extended their unblemished home record to 16-0 with a
double-header sweep of Ohio Dominican University (3-5), winning 8-0 in the
first game and 2-1 in the night cap.
Denisse Fuenmayor went 4-for-6 with four RBIs and two
runs scored on the day. In the first game both of Fuenmayor’s hits were
home runs, helping the Rams score seven runs in the bottom of the second
inning and then getting the solo shot in the bottom of the fourth to end
the first game in a mercy-ruled five innings.
Kirby Baxter (12-2) picked up the win, pitching a
no-hitter, while fanning four batters.
Brenda Box (2-for-3) and Winter Guthrie (1-for-2)
each scored a run in the nightcap to help the Rams extend their winning
streak to eight.
Ann McLean
(6-1) scattered three hits in seven innings while giving up one earned run
in picking up the complete game win.
The Rams
will play host to cross-town rival Spring Hill College this Saturday in a
double-header scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
