KANSAS CITY, Mo—The University of Mobile softball team is ranked No. 10 in the first National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released Tuesday.
The Lady Rams fell four spots from their preseason ranking of No. 6 after starting the 2009 season 17-4 with many games against Top-25 opponents. Mobile received 419 points, one shy of 9th-ranked Bethel (Ind) and twenty-five shy of 8th-ranked Saint Gregory’s.
Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe William Carey University vaulted from No. 13 to No. 6 after winning the Gulf Coast Invitational.
Thus far, Mobile has beaten No. 19 Lee, No. 12 Shorter, No. 21 Olivet Nazarene, No. 9 Bethel College, and No. 14 William Woods. Victims Belhaven, Auburn-Montgomery, William Penn and Faulkner are all receiving votes in the poll.
Mobile hosts Oklahoma Christian Tuesday, March 17 at 5 pm and then visits LSU-Alexandria March 23rd.
