MOBILE, Ala—The 10th-ranked University of Mobile softball team split a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference double header at Spring Hill College Sunday. The Lady Rams run-ruled the Lady Badgers 8-0 in five innings in the opener and the Badgers took the finale 3-1.
Leslie Pickette (15-0) picked up the win in the opener with 5 innings of 2-run shutout ball. She walked 1 and fanned 1.
Tess Ackerman led the way at the plate, going 3-for-3 with 4 RBI and a home run, while Taylor Lee Phillips finished 2-for-3. Brittany Dowdle and Jineth Pimentel finished with 2 RBI apiece.
Mobile broke the game open with a six-spot in the 4th inning for the run-rule victory.
Samantha Brooks picked up the win for the Lady Badgers in the finale by limiting Mobile to one unearned tally in 7 innings of 7-hit ball. Mindy Scott took the loss for Mobile after allowing 2 earned runs on 8 hits in 6 innings.
Dowdle and Pimentel each went 2-for-4 at the plate for Mobile, with Dowdle driving in the Lady Rams’ lone run. Monica Zeringue went 2-for-4 with a RBI at the top of the Spring Hill order.
Mobile (22-5, 3-1) hosts 7th-ranked William Carey University for a 4 pm double header Tuesday, March 31st.
