Mobile, Ala. – University of
Moible's Missy Passley was named the NAIA National Softball
Pitcher of the Week, for the week ending March 30, 2003.
Passley, a senior pitcher from Mesa, Ariz.,
pitched the Rams to three victories on the week, Mobile went 6-0
for the week. She pitched three complete games, striking out an
amazing 37 batters and giving up only one hit and four walks and
no earned runs. Passley threw no-hitters against 9th-ranked
Union University (Tenn.) and then 6th-ranked Columbia
College (Mo.). The Rams also beat Belhaven College (Miss.).
She improves to 15-3 on the year, and the Rams move to 33-3 on
the season.
This is the second week in a row that the
Rams have received the National Pitcher of the Week award from
the NAIA. Kirby Baxter was awarded the honor last week.
The Rams also moved up one spot in the rankings this week to
fourth position.
