Lady Rams Sweep Lady Generals
MOBILE, Ala-- The No. 10 University of Mobile softball team swept visiting LSU-Alexandria by scores of 7-0 and 6-3 Monday afternoon in non-conference action.
Leslie Pickette (18-1) picked up the victory in the opener by limiting the Lady Generals to four singles in a complete-game shutout effort. Pickette fanned three and walked one.
Abby Campbell, Tess Ackerman, Ally Scott and Taylor Lee Phillips all turned in two-hit performances for Mobile, with Ackerman and Scott also collecting two RBI apiece.
Ackerman started the scoring with a two-out, two-run single in the first, and then Scott highlighted a four-run 3rd inning with a 2-run triple.
Nicole Sweat (5-4) picked up the victory in the finale with 3.2 innings of 2-hit, shutout relief. Pickette entered with runners and 2nd and 3rd in the 6th inning and got out of the jam to pick up the save with 1.1 innings of relief.
Kirstyn Joiner and Taylor Lee Phillips both went 2-for-3, while Holli McLeod cranked a 3-run home run for the Lady Rams.
LSU-Alexandria took the lead with a three-spot in the 3rd, but the Lady Rams answered back in the 4th. Phillips singled home Mobile's first run, and then McLeod followed with her three-run shot to provide the game-winning tallies.
Mobile (26-7, 3-3) visits Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe and No. 7 William Carey University Thursday for a 3 pm double header.
