Lady Rams Win Awards

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile's Ginger Reeser and Kelyn Mendoza were honored by the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and the NAIA Tuesday. Reeser was tabbed the GCAC and Region XIII Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 6th, while Mendoza was named GCAC and Region XIII Player of the Week.

Reeser threw a pair of complete-game victories for the Lady Rams against tough competition on the week. In the opener, Reeser defeated 20th-ranked Faulkner by limiting the Lady Eagles to 3 hits and striking out 6.

The lefty then capped the week by pitching Mobile to a 2-1 GCAC victory over rival Spring Hill. Reeser scattered 5 hits in 7 innings and cruised while fanning 8 batters.

Mendoza impressed at the plate as the Lady Rams went 4-0 on the week. Mendoza slugged 1.111 and posted an on-base percentage of .667.

The senior reached base 4 times against Faulkner and then went 4-for-6 at the plate against the rival Lady Badgers. Mendoza won the opener with a solo homer to take the 2-1 ball game and then doubled and scored twice in the finale.

The duo will look to lead Mobile into a crucial double header at home Thursday, April 10th when Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe and 7th-ranked William Carey University visits Mobile for a 4:00 double header.
