Mobile, Ala. – Characterized by
Coach Becky Clark as a “great team effort,” the 2nd-ranked
University of Mobile softball team completed the regular season
sweep of Spring Hill College by winning 2-0, and 3-2 in a
double-header today. Once again it was strong pitching
performances by Missy Passley (19-3) and Kirby Baxter (21-0)
that vaulted the Rams to wins over the 13th-ranked
Badgers.
“What a fun win,” Coach Clark said. “We
needed these games and everyone stepped up. These are the games
that make softball fun.”
In the first game Maria Soto (2-for-4) and
Lindsey Allen (1-for-3) each picked up RBIs to give run support
to Passley who struck out seven, walked two and gave up only one
hit in seven innings of work.

In the nightcap, Baxter (7 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2
SO) managed to stave off the Badgers who refused to go down
without a fight.
Down 2-1, the Badgers tied the game in the
bottom of the 6th thanks to a Jennifer Girod RBI.
The Rams answered the call in the top of
the 7th. With two outs, and Molly Walker on second
base, Brenda Box (3-for-4) got the go-ahead run with an RBI
double to lift the Rams to a 41-3 record.
“I saw a special toughness from them
today,” Coach Clark said. “They showed that they’re going to
latch on and not let go. We’ll need the same type of effort
against Thomas [University] on Monday.”
