Lady Rams Sweep Thomas University

MOBILE, Ala-- The 15th-ranked University of Mobile softball team rallied for a 4-3 victory versus Thomas University in Thursday's finale, to finish off the double-header sweep after taking the opener 9-1 in five innings due to the run-rule.

Nicole Sweat picked up the win for the Lady Rams in the finale with 5 innings of two-hit, shutout relief. Courtney Scruggs took the loss after allowing one run in 0.1 innings of relief. Abby Campbell, Ally Scott and Kirstyn Joiner each had two-hit games, while Taylor Lee Phillips drove in a pair.

Thomas led 3-0 after three innings, but the Lady Rams chipped away with single tallies in the 4th and 6th innings, then pushed two across in the 7th. Abby Campbell started the inning with a bunt single and later came home on an error to tie the game. After the error, a walk and a single loaded the bases, Ally Scott ripped a single off the pitcher to plate Brittany Dowdle for the walk-off win.

The Lady Rams cruised in the opener, with Leslie Pickette (20-3) going the full 5 innings to pick up the win. She fanned six, all in the first two innings, and gave up one run on five hits.

Offensively, Jineth Pimentel finished 3-for-3, Campbell went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI, Scott finished 2-for-3 with 2 runs scored, Joiner finished 2-for-2 with 3 runs scored, Phillips went 2-for-2 and Holli McLeod finished 1-for-1 with a pair of RBI.

Mobile (29-10) hosts Spring Hill College Tuesday, April 21 at 1 pm for a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference double header.
