MOBILE, Ala. – Top-ranked Thomas University (40-3)
swept the regular season series with the 4th-ranked University
of Mobile Rams (41-9) as they won both games of today’s double-header, 5-4
and 7-4. Thomas swept Mobile 2-1 and 8-0 in their previous match-up on

A tight battle in the first game, UM would twice come
back to tie the game before finally succumbing.
Mobile responded to a quick two-run top of the first
with two runs of their own as Rachel West belted a two-run homerun to tie
the game 2-2.
The Nighthawks fired right back as Yuruby Alicart
blasted a two-run home run in the top of the second.
Once again the Rams had an answer as Denisse
Fuenmayor drove in Brenda Box on a RBI double and then scored on a
Stephanie Landrum RBI single.
Thomas’ Tania Black scored in the top of the fourth
to give the Nighthawks their final edge of the game.
UM’s Kirby Baxter gave up 10 hits and four earned
runs, despite striking out six, in seven innings pitched.
In the nightcap, Thomas jumped out to a 4-0 lead in
the top of the first and never looked back as they held on for the win.
Yuruby Alicart once again led the Nighthawks as she
went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Mobile’s Ann McLean was charged with the loss as she
gave up seven hits, six runs and two walks in four innings of work.
