Mobile, Ala. – Seven members of the
2nd-ranked University of Mobile softball team were
named to the GCAC All-Conference team. Rams that garnered
All-Conference recognition and have helped the Rams to a current
46-5 record were Missy Passley (23-4 and .95 ERA), Kirby Baxter
(22-1 and 1.18 ERA), Maria Soto (.442 avg. with 53 RBIs), Sylvia
Bedgood (.353 avg.), Brenda Box (.347 avg.), Denisse Fuenmayor
(.362 avg. with 34 RBIs and seven homeruns) and Meredith Tanner
(.305 avg.).
Missy Passley, a senior from Flagstaff,
Arizona who fanned 276 batters, giving up only 76 hits and 20
earned runs in 51 games was recognized as Pitcher of the Year
with Maria Soto, a Venezuelan national softball team member,
being recognized as conference Player of the Year.
First year coach and former UM player Becky
Clark earned GCAC Coach of the Year honors.
