Lady Rams Leap To 4th in the NAIA Top-25

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile softball team jumped up to #4 in the latest NAIA Top-25, released Wednesday evening.

The Lady Rams (33-7) are the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Champions and will next play at the Region XIII Tournament May 6-8 in Orange Beach, AL. There, Mobile will battle 11th-ranked William Carey, Belhaven, 7th-ranked Shorter, 24th-ranked Lee University and 25th-ranked Faulkner University for an automatic bid to the NAIA National Tournament bid.

Mobile moved up one spot from last week’s ranking after going 2-0 at the GCAC Tournament with wins over Spring Hill and William Carey. The Lady Rams are on an 11-game winning streak, last losing at NCAA Div I Birmingham Southern 2-1 on April 8th.

The UM softball team features a nice blend of pitching and an explosive offense, as they have outscored opponents 239-71 on the season. Yaicey Sojo, Anadys Suarez and Jineth Pimentel are all batting over .400, with Sojo leading the way at .464.

Meanwhile, Ginger Reeser and Nikki Madden lead the Mobile pitching staff with a combined record of 26-4. Reeser is the GCAC Pitcher of the Year after posting a 1.48 ERA, while Madden has racked up a 1.67 ERA in 88 innings of work.
