Pair of Rams Honored

MOBILE, Ala-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released its weekly awards Thursday, and a pair of Rams were honored. Ginger Reeser was tabbed the GCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, while Luker was named GCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.

Reeser picked up both wins at the GCAC Tournament for the Lady Rams, getting one with a complete-game effort and coming on in relief to get the other.

The senior started the tournament by dominating the Lady Badgers of Spring Hill, with 7 innings of 4-hit ball and 5 strikeouts as the Lady Rams won 2-1. With Mobile and William Carey battling back-and-forth in the finale, Reeser came on to give a big boost out of the pen, with 2.1 innings of 3-hit relief with 4 strikeouts, as the Lady Rams won it in the bottom of the 6th.

Reeser moves to 15-2 on the season and the 4th-ranked Lady Rams will compete at the Region XIII Tournament May 6-8 in Orange Beach, AL.

Baseball Honored As Well....

The 8th-ranked University of Mobile baseball team lost 2-of-3 at 20th-ranked LSU-Shreveport last week, but Luker proved to be one of the few bright spots.

The lefty threw the second game of the series for the Rams and allowed only 2 runs over 6 innings of work. He fanned two and allowed only five Pilot hits. With the victory, Luker picked up his 24th career win at the University of Mobile to move into first place on the All-Time Win's List.

He moves to 10-2 on the season and was named to the All-Conference Team. Luker and the Rams are competing at the GCAC Tournament April 30-May 3rd.
