Six UM Softballers Honored By NAIA

MOBILE, Ala-- On the same day that the University of Mobile softball team clinched a berth in the NAIA National Tournament, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics honored six Lady Rams with the release of the All-Region Teams.

Mobile (36-7) competes in Region XIII and saw Anadys Suarez, Yaicey Sojo, Cristina Rodriguez, Jineth Pimentel, Kelyn Mendoza and Ginger Reeser honored.

Suarez plays third base for the Lady Rams and leads Mobile with a .457 batting average in 43 games played. Sojo leads the team with 12 homers, a .554 on-base percentage and 23 stolen bases on the season, while Pimentel has driven in a team-high 32 runs in her first year with the ball club at second base.

Rodriguez is Mobile's catcher and was named NAIA Player of the Week earlier this season, while Mendoza patrols right field and is batting .402 with 31 RBI. Reeser leads the Mobile pitching staff with an 18-2 record and 1.43 ERA in 127 innings of action on the season.

Mobile will play at the NAIA National Tournament May 16-21 in Decatur, AL.
