Becky
Clark
Head
Softball Coach
Clark
returns to the University of Mobile for her second season as head coach after
leading last year's team to a 56-7-1 record and a 2nd-place finish at the NAIA
national tournament. After
serving as an assistant under Mary Ann Jennings from 1994-1999. Clark most
recently served as the assistant coach at Okaloosa-Walton Community College from
2000-2002. At O.W.C.C., Clark's responsibilities included academic counseling,
budgeting, scheduling, travel arrangements, recruiting student-athletes,
scouting opponents, practice organization, on-the-field coaching, and game
management.
Clark also spent the 2000 season as an assistant coach
at The Master's College, in Santa Clarita, CA. There she assisted the head coach
in all phases of establishing a first-year softball program.
Playing her entire collegiate career at the University
of Mobile, Clark graduated cum laude in 1995 with a B.A. in English and a
Marketing minor. In 1999, she earned an M.A. in Education, and graduated with
honors with a 4.0 G.P.A. Among her many accomplishments, Clark was twice named
Academic All-American in 1993 and 1994. She was also a member of the NAIA
Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in 1998.
Rachel Murray
Assistant
Softball Coach
Murray comes on board for her
first season as UM’s assistant softball coach. A celebrated collegiate pitcher,
she will work with a talented core of pitchers. A three-time NAIA
All-American pitcher at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, she was named NAIA National
Pitcher of the Year in 2001.
Murray brings with her
experience and a host of recognitions she received throughout her playing
career. Amongst her accomplishments are: NCCAA All-American (99-02), NCCAA
National Player of the Year (00-02), NCCAA National Player of the Year (00-02),
NAIA Region XI Player of the Year (99-02), NCCAA MidEast Region Player of the
Year (00-02), NAIA All-Region XI (99-02), NAIA World Series All-Tournament Team
(01), NCCAA Nationals All-Tournament Team (99-02), TranSouth Conference Pitcher
of the Year (00-02), All-TranSouth Conference (99-02), Fred Delay Award (02),
and the 2002 Female Athlete of the Year award.
Graduating with a Bachelor of
Science in Sports Medicine, Murray finished her degree with a 3.4 GPA.
Murray was named to “Who’s Who Among Students in American University and
Colleges” and was named to the National Dean’s List.
After college, Murray competed in the 2002 Canada Cup where she started a game
against the USA World Team and struck out six batters including Amanda Freed,
Jessica Mendoza (2), Stacy Nuveman, Jennie Finch and Lisa Fernandez.

Maria Soto
Assistant
Softball Coach
Soto’s depth of playing experience and accolades are vast as she has
played for the Venezuelan National Team and was named “Athlete of the Year” in
1994 by the National Federation of Softball and Carabobo State.
A 1st Team All-American selection in 2003, Soto led the national runner-up Rams
in nearly every major batting category including: batting average (.405),
doubles (21), RBIs (59), stolen bases (15-of-17), slugging (.579) and hits (77).
A leader both on and off the field, Soto returns to UM to serve in a capacity
that will be second nature to her, and that is as a coach.
