Spring Hill At 2008 GCI

Game 1:
Columbia Downs Spring Hill 5-1

Columbia College downed Spring Hill 5-1 on day one of the Gulf Coast Invitational in Orange Beach, AL.

Katie McMahon improved her record to 4-0 by picking up the win for the Cougars. Rachel Browner led the victors at the plate with a 2-for-3 afternoon, while Ashley Farmer popped a home run in the 2nd inning.

Carlene Bolton provided the lone Lady Badger run with a solo homer in the 3rd inning. Samantha Brooks took the loss for Spring Hill.

Game 2:
Spring Hill Falls to Shorter 5-1

Shorter College took down Spring Hill 5-1 on day one of the GCI. Shorter, now 18-4 on the season, got a big pitching performance from Libby Munson and used a 3-spot in the 6th to pull away from a 2-1 game.

Munson (10-1) racked up 10 strikeouts and allowed only 1 Badger run while going the distance for Shorter. Meanwhile, the offense was provided by a trio of bats.

Monica West went 1-2 at the plate with a triple, and Lindsay McDaniel and Kali Milford added long balls to help decide the game.

Game 3:
Spring Hill Beats Thomas 8-0

Spring Hill picked up its first victory at the GCI by downing Thomas University 8-0. Samantha Brooks picked up the victory by throwing a 3-hitter and racking up 6 strikeouts.

Jessica Walters went 2-for-3 with a RBI and Lauren Herrera finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI. The Lady Badgers scored 5 runs over the first 2 frames to take charge of the game.

Game 4:
Spring Hill Defeated Oklahoma Baptist 1-0

Brittany Abate pitched a 4-hitter to outduel Sonya Beach as the Lady Badgers picked up a 1-0 victory at the Gulf Coast Invitational.

Abate did it all, dominating the opposing hitters and driving in the lone run of the game. Lauren Herrera and Brooke Turlich had 2-hit games for the Lady Badgers.

Game 5:
St. Gregory's Continues Dominance With 8-0 Win

St. Gregory's picked up an 8-0 victory over Spring Hill College at the Gulf Coast Invitational in first round action of the Gold Bracket.

Sharon Bell dominated on the mound, racking up 13 strikeouts and holding the Lady Badgers to 1 hit, while St. Gregory's picked up 10 hits on offense.

Dailyn Dauman went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI, and Nicole Tindall finished 2-for-2 at the plate with 3 RBI. The winners jumped ahead right away, scoring all the runs in the first 3 frames.

Game 6:
Spring Hill Holds On For 1-0 Victory

Spring Hill College picked up a 1-0 victory over Oklahoma Baptist as Brittany Abate 4-hit Oklahoma Baptist and struck out 4.

Sonya Beach picked up the loss, allowing 6 hits and 2 walks. Abate, backed up her own dominating pitching effort by going 2-for-3 at the plate and driving in the winning run in the 3rd inning. Brooke Turlich and Lauren Herrera added 2-for-3 afternoons.
