Athletic
Director
Craig Bogar is in his fifth year at
the helm of the University of Mobile’s intercollegiate athletic
program. Bogar is also the men's and women's cross country and
track coach. Previously, Coach Bogar served as athletic director
and head men's and women’s swimming coach at Loyola University, in
New Orleans.
Bogar was
recently chosen as National Athletic Director of the Year for
the NAIA-ADA as well as Athletic Director of the Year for
NAIA Region XIII and the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. He also
serves as Chair of Region XIII and is a member of the NAIA Council
of Athletic Administrators. In the Fall of 2001, Bogar served as
Interim Commissioner of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference. He is
also on the Editorial Board for Athletic Management magazine.
Coach Bogar is
a member of the Mobile Area Sports Commission, the Rotary Club of
Mobile and serves on the Board of Directors for the Saraland Chamber
of Commerce. He also volunteers as an announcer for the WHIL Radio
Reading Service for the Blind.
Bogar holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bryant
College in Smithfield, Rhode Island. At Bryant, Bogar was a varsity
swimmer and served as team captain in his junior and senior years.
He was also the recipient of the Vincent Votolato Sr.
Scholar-Athlete Graduation Award. Bogar holds a Master of Arts
degree in recreation administration from the University of Maryland,
where he was a graduate assistant.
Bogar is
married to Dr. Christine Bogar, who is a counselor and adjunct
professor at the University of South Alabama.
The Bogar's have two daughters. Corinne is a senior at Daphne High
School and Brooke is in the eighth grade at Spanish Fort School.
The Bogars are members of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.
