UM Women Win; Rams Fall

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's tennis team defeated 13-1 Tuskegee University 5-4 Wednesday and the Rams' men's tennis team fell 4-5 to Tuskegee.

Josy Soares/Claudia Borges and Pam Boykin/Mayra Leal won in doubles action, while Soares, Borges and Leal picked up victories in singles action to take the victory.

The Rams dropped a hard-fought 4-5 game to Tuskegee after falling behind 1-2 after doubles action as the team of Ricky Weghorst/Shaun Wintzell picked up the only win for Mobile.

Alejandro Vial, Wintzell and Weghorst were winners in singles play for the Rams. The Rams fall to 8-4 overall and remain 5-2 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play. Mobile next plays at home Saturday at 9:00 am versus Tougaloo. If the Rams win that match, Mobile will clinch the #2 seed in the upcoming GCAC Tournament.

The Lady Rams improve to 9-4 on the season and remain 4-3 in GCAC action. The UM women travel to Montevallo Thursday, April 3rd at 3:00.
