Rams Honored By GCAC

HATTIESBURG, Miss—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference announced the GCAC Players of the Week for the week ending March 29th, and the University of Mobile had a pair of players honored.

Jineth Pimentel was named GCAC Softball Player of the Week, while Stephen Stork was tabbed GCAC Baseball Player of the Week.

Pimentel led the way at the plate as the 10th-ranked Lady Rams went 3-1 in four games on the week. Mobile swept LSU-Alexandria and split with GCAC rival Spring Hill College. In two games against LSU-A, Pimentel went a combined 5-for-6 with two homers, two doubles and 8 RBI.

To cap the week, the 2008 All-American went 3-for-5 in two games at Spring Hill, driving in a pair of runs. Mobile (22-5, 3-1) hosts No. 7 William Carey University Tuesday, March 31 at 1 pm.

Stork guided the UM baseball team to a 2-2 week, splitting double headers with Faulkner and William Carey University. Stork recorded two hits in all four games, giving him eight consecutive games with multiple hits and a 13-game hitting streak.

In two games against the Eagles of Faulkner University, Stork went 4-for-7 with a pair of homers and 5 RBI. The short stop continued to hit with a 4-for-7 effort in the double header versus William Carey.

The Rams (21-16) visit Stillman College for a noon double header Wednesday, April 1st.
