UM Athletes Win 6-of-8 GCAC Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the GCAC Player of the Week awards for the week ending April 19, and the University of Mobile had six athletes honored.

Mobile swept the baseball, softball and golf awards. Dustin Lee was named GCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week, David Cramblitt was named GCAC Baseball Player of the Week, Leslie Pickette was named GCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week, Ally Scott was named GCAC Softball Player of the Week, Erika Lundberg was named GCAC Women’s Golfer of the Week and Cameron Smith was named GCAC Men’s Golfer of the Week.

Lee came out of the pen to work 7.2 scoreless innings for the Rams on the week, including a 3.1 inning save against Belhaven to cap the week. He has yet to allow an earned run since moving to the mound this season.

Cramblitt batted .438 and slugged 1.000 in four games with a pair of homers and 10 RBI. He capped the week with a record-setting performance in the 10-5 victory over Belhaven. The third baseman cranked two homers to tie a school record and collected 9 RBI to break the old school record of six.

Pickette won a pair of games on the week for the 15th-ranked Lady Rams to move to the 20-win mark. She started the week by throwing a complete-game shutout against No. 7 William Carey, where she fanned eight and walked none. She then fanned six in 5 innings versus Thomas to pick up the win.

Scott hit .500 (7-of-14) for the Lady Rams and drove in a team-high 4 runs on the week. She delivered a walk-off single in the finale versus Thomas as Mobile came back from down 3-1 to win 4-3.

Lundberg, meanwhile, led the Lady Rams to the GCAC Championship over Spring Hill at Azalea City. The freshman carded an 8-over 152 (75, 77) at the tournament to take home top individual honors.

Smith won top honors at the men’s GCAC Tournament as Mobile won the GCAC Championship. Smith carded a 1-under 215 (74, 72, 69) to lead the way. The Rams and the Lady Rams will advance to a National Tournament Qualifier next week.
