UM Athletes Continue To Dominate

HATTIESBURG, Miss—The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the fall sports players of the week for the week ending October 5th, and the University of Mobile had three more athletes pick up honors.

Anna Maddox won her second consecutive Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honor after picking up an 8-save shutout at GCAC and cross-town rival Spring Hill College.

The sophomore has allowed only 2 goals in 4 games at goalkeeper this year on her way to a 2-1-1 record. She has 25 saves.

Whitney Knight picked up a pair of honors, being named Volleyball Hitter and Player of the Week after the Lady Rams picked up a pair of GCAC victories to stay unbeaten.

In the straight-set wins over Spring Hill and Belhaven, Knight hit an impressive .390 and picked up 11 kills in each match. She just-missed a pair of double-doubles by 3 total digs. The junior is hitting .280 with 200 kills on the year.

Rounding out the honors was Cameron Smith, who was named GCAC Men’s Golfer of the Week for the third time this season for his play at the Derrall Foreman Invitational. Smith carded a two-round 149 after shooting a 78 and 71. Smith finished 29th and the Rams finished 9th as a team.
