UM Athletes Earn Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss-- The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference released the fall sports player of the week awards for the week ending October 12, and the University of Mobile brought home four of the honors.

Whitney Knight was named GCAC Volleyball Player of the Week, Paula Stilkey was tabbed GCAC Volleyball Hitter of the Week, Nicole Stokes was named GCAC Volleyball Setter of the Week, and Maegan Rice was named GCAC Women's Golfer of the Week.

The 18th-ranked University of Mobile volleyball team played 6 matches during the week, and went 5-1, with only a five-set loss at NCAA-Div. II's 20th-ranked West Florida. They won the Faulkner University Invitational thanks in large par to the aforementioned trio.

Knight finished with 73 kills on a .241 hitting percentage for the week, with 53 digs and 3 double-doubles, including a 14 and 11 effort at West Florida. Silkey put up all-around numbers for the Lady Rams with 52 kills, 59 digs, 16 aces and 19 blocks. She closed out the week with a pair of 10 and 16 double-doubles. Stokes finished with 150 assists for an average of 6.25 per game, and added 70 digs and 9 aces. She posted four double-doubles, including a 32 assist-11 dig effort in the Faulkner Univ. Invitational Finals.

Maegan Rice picked up her honors by finished 2nd overall at the Trevecca Fall Invitational. Her round one 74, and round two 75 helped the Lady Rams to a 3rd place finish.
