Lady Rams Drop Home Match To Faulkner
MOBILE, Ala-- The momentum from coming off a 4-0 weekend in Arkansas
was not enough to prevent the University of Mobile volleyball team from
dropping a Region XIII match to visiting Faulkner University Tuesday
night.
Instead, the Lady Eagles took a hard-fought, back-and-forth match 3-2
(30-23, 23-30, 30-26, 23-30, 15-12) to send Mobile to 4-2 on the season.
"It's a disappointing regional loss that will probably drop us in the
rankings," Assistant Coach Amber Campbell said. "Hopefully this is the
last sign of our inexperience, and we mature from here."
The Lady Rams, who have only 1 senior on the roster, could never overtake
the Lady Eagles after dropping the opening game of the match 30-23.
Despite the frustrating loss, several Mobile players stepped up and
had tremendous nights on the court. Nicole Stokes contributed 55 assists
and tallied 22 digs for Mobile, while Paula Stilkey totaled 18 kills
and 16 digs. Syretta Baldwin paced the offense with 21 kills, while Whitney
Knight finished with 19 kills.
The Lady Rams have a week to learn from this match and start conference
play, as Mobile travels across town to play arch-rival Spring Hill College
Tuesday, September 11th at 7:00 pm.
