Lady Rams Ranked 23rd

MOBILE, Ala— The University of Mobile volleyball team cracked the NAIA Top-25 for the first time in program history Tuesday, when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the first poll of 2008.

Mobile began the season receiving 107 votes in the preseason poll, and after going 5-0 to begin the season, they jumped into the first regular season poll.

"We continue to seek to build a National Championship caliber team and this is a sign that we are headed in the right direction," Mobile Head Coach Jon Campbell said. "This is a testament to the hard work our girls and coaches have put in to build this program up to this level in only three-plus years."

In 2007, the Lady Rams got as high as #26, only 6 votes shy of the Top-25, but could not crack the poll despite winning 36 matches and advancing to the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Lady Rams have yet to lose a game this season, defeating Northwood, Texas College, Spring Hill, Alabama State and Faulkner University 3-0. Mobile will look to defend their national ranking this weekend at the Berry College Tournament in Rome, Ga. There, Mobile will battle Shorter College, St. Thomas, Birmingham Southern and Berry College.

Fans will get their first chance to watch the 23rd-ranked Lady Rams at home on September 16th against Pensacola Christian College at 7:30 pm.
