Freshman outside hitter Syretta Baldwin was named Player
of the Week for volleyball. Baldwin aquired her first career double-double
with 15 kills and 16 digs against Judson College. Freshman libero
Kelly Ladnier was named Defensive Player of the Week for her effort againt
Judson recording 18 digs for the Rams. Freshman setter Jill Campbell
was named Setter of the Week for recording 33 assists versus the Eagles.
The Rams defeated Judson in a come-from-behind victory,
3-2, last Thursday in Marion, Ala.
"I think it is fantastic for the girls to be recognized
for their effort," said volleyball head coach Jon Campbell. "They
played really well together and deserve this honor."
Sophomore goalkeeper Tommi Sarkrinen
was named men's soccer Player of the Week for his tremendous effort
last weekend in the 2005 O'Charley's Futbol Festival hosted by UM. Having
to play a man down for most of the game against Holy Names University,
Sarkrinen made save after save keeping the Hawks scoreless and recording
his first shutout of the season.
"When we went down a man as early as we did, there was
going to be a lot more pressure on the defense and Tommi," said men's
soccer
head coach Peter Fuller. "Tommi made four quality saves and one
great save on a breakaway to keep the score at zero. He certainly
is deserving of this award."
