UM Volleyball Continues To Make Noise on National Stage

CLEVELAND, Tenn-- One day after picking up the program's first win over a ranked NAIA school, the University of Mobile volleyball team knocked off the #5 ranked NCAA-Div III school at the Lee University Tournament. Mobile beat Emory University 3-2 (14-30, 25-30, 31-29, 30-24, 15-11).

The Lady Rams followed that up by taking down Bery College 3-0 Saturday evening.

Game 1

Emory University, which entered the match 8-2, jumped on the Lady Rams by winning the first two games, to seemingly take control of the match. But, the Lady Rams showed their fight and talent by taking game 3, 31-29 to get some momentum.

"We got started off slow," Head Coach Jon Campbell said. "But, we were able to build confidence every game and get back into it."

Get back into it they did, the Lady Rams finished the comeback and took games 4 and 5, 30-24 and 15-11, to start off 2-0 at the Lee University Tournament.

The win moves the Lady Rams to 7-2 on the season, and the next match will take place tonight versus Berry College at 4pm to finish the tournament.

Game 2

While the Emory victory was impressive and big for the program, Mobile still had to handle business against Region XIII opponent Berry College, whom Lady Rams have yet to beat in the program's short-history.

Mobile did just that, riding the emotion from 3-straight season victories, the Lady Rams took down the Lady Vikings 30-24, 32-30, and 30-19. The win puts Mobile at 8-2 on the season and 2-1 in Region XIII play.

The Lady Rams will ride their 4-match win streak into Tuesday, September 18th's home match with GCAC foe Dillard University. The match is slated to start at 7:30 pm.
