Three Volleyball Players Were Honored Wednesday
MOBILE, Ala— Following a 4-0 week, Nicole Stokes, Amber Presnell and Paula Stilkey all received Gulf Coast Athletic Conference and Region XIII honors.
Stokes was named Setter of the Week, Stilkey was honored as Player of the Week, and Presnell was named Libero of the Week, for the now 9-2 Lady Rams.
It wasn't a normal 4-0 week, as all four wins were big for the team. The opener was a 3-1 victory over GCAC foe Spring Hill, then Mobile traveled to Cleveland, TN for the Lee University Invitational. There, Mobile took down #21 Lee University, #5 NCAA Division III Emory University, and finally Region XIII foe Berry College.
Through the 4 matches, Stokes tallied 113 assists and 53 digs for the Lady Rams. After sliding into the libero position, Presnell totaled 56 digs and only 12 errors in 139 pass attempts. Stilkey was awarded for her all-around play for the Lady Rams. The Union, KY native finished play with 40 kills, 14 aces, 55 digs and 18 blocks.
Mobile next travels to the Cumberland University Tournament this Friday and Saturday. On friday, the Lady Rams will face Lambuth and the Univ. of Rio Grande.
