Lady Rams Defeat Loyola 3-1

MOBILE, Ala— The University of Mobile volleyball team continued its winning ways, by defeating visiting Loyola University 3-1 Tuesday night to move to 14-2 on the season.

The visiting Wolfpack won the opener 30-25, but Mobile held steady and rallied to take the match. Things looked bleak in game 2, as Loyola took a late edge in a back-and-forth affair and was 1 point away from taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

But, the Lady Rams, down 29-28, got a kill from Cassy Johnson to tie it at 29-29 and took it from there to win 31-29 and even things up. After that, things got progressively easier for Mobile, winning Game 2 30-25 and taking the clincher 30-20.

Whitney Knight led the offensive attack with 19 kills, while Syretta Baldwin added 13 and Paula Stilkey finished with 12 of her own. Jessica Bodkin had one of her best matches as a freshman, finishing with 9 kills for Mobile.

Knight also paced the team with 17 digs, equaling Amber Presnell's total. Nicole Stokes and Tasha Buchanan led the team in assists with 25 and 22, respectively.

The win was the 10th-straight for the Lady Rams who next play at Pensacola Christian, Thursday September 27th at 6:00 pm.
