MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile volleyball team won the Faulkner University Invitational Saturday with three more victories over Loyola, Faulkner and Webber International. Mobile moves to 23-1 on the season. The Lady Rams started the day off with a straight-set win over GCAC foe Loyola University. Mobile took the sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-20. Loyola is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Top-25 poll and will visit Mobile for the Lady Rams' Senior Night on October 14th for a 7:30 pm match. Mobile then had to go through host school Faulkner University, and had a little tougher time, but still prevailed. The Lady Rams took down the Lady Eagles 3-1 (25-20, 28-30, 25-17, 25-13) to advance to the finals against Webber International, who is also receiving votes. In that final match, Mobile had to rally, and did just that. Webber took the first set 25-21, but the Lady Rams picked up a 25-23 win in set two to tie it up. Webber went up 2-1 with a 25-18 victory in set three, before Mobile finished it out with a 25-20 and 15-7 win in the final two sets. Paula Stilkey and Whitney Knight were named to the All-Tournament team for their play this weekend. The Lady Rams (23-1) next play Tuesday, October 14th at 7:30 pm when GCAC foe Loyola University visits for Senior Night. Friday, October 11: Lady Rams Go 2-0 On Opening Day MONTGOMERY, Ala-- The 18th-ranked University of Mobile volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on the opening day of the Faulkner University Tournament Friday evening. The Lady Rams will participate in bracket play Saturday to determine the tournament champion, with opponents and times to be determined. In the opener, Mobile defeated Martin Methodist in straight sets (25-12, 25-8, 25-14) then the Lady Rams held off Webber International 3-2 (25-23, 25-20, 25-27, 18-25, 15-12) to move to 20-1 on the season.
