Lady Rams Win 19th Straight

MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile volleyball team stretched its winning streak to 19, and moved to 23-2 on the season by defeating Belhaven 3-1 (26-30, 30-20, 30-14, 30-17) at home Friday night.

After dropping the opening game, the Lady Rams dominated the remaining 3 games to move to 6-0 in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference play.

Whitney Knight led the offense with 19 kills, while Syretta Baldwin chipped in 15 and Jessica Bodkin tallied 10. Paula Stilkey and Cassy Johnson added 9 and 6 kills, respectively.

Tasha Buchanan helped set up the offense with 25 assists, while Nicole Stokes finished with 22 assists of her own.

Knight finished with 15 digs to help out the defense and pick up a double-double, while 4 other Lady Rams finished with double-digit dig totals. Stokes had 11, Buchanan had 13, Stilkey added 12, and Amber Presnell led the way with 18 digs.

Mobile will return to action Saturday, October 20th with a pair of matches in Montgomery. Mobile will take on Southern Wesleyan at 3 pm and then play Faulkner University at 5 pm. Both matches will take place at Faulkner University.
