Knight Named Scholar-Athlete KANSAS CITY, Mo-- The University of Mobile's Whitney Knight was named a 2009 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athlete Friday, as announced by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. There were 304 NAIA student-athletes honored. Nominated by each institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and have achieved junior academic status to qualify. The Lady Rams finished the 2009 season with a 26-13 record. Mobile won the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament, hosted and defeated SCAD in a National Championship Opening Round Match, and went 1-2 in pool play at the 2009 NAIA Volleyball National Championship, defeating No. 11 Vanguard. Knight finished the year with 464 kills, 346 digs, 45 blocks and 33 service aces. She led Mobile in kills and digs.
