Head Volleyball Coach Jon Campbell can be considered a well-seasoned coach with 20 seasons of volleyball coaching experience. He brings an overall collegiate coaching record of 165-103, and his coaching career includes a 4-year stint at Cumberland College where he achieved a 106-48 record. He was then named the Rams' inaugural volleyball coach in June 2005. Since joining the University of Mobile, an impressive 31-7 season in 2006 earned Campbell the honor of GCAC and Region XIII Coach of the Year. He also earned a similar award in 2004 when he was named Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year while still at Cumberland College. Campbell earned his degree in athletic training from Carson Newman College, and continued his education at Furman University where he received his master’s in health and exercise science. He is still a certified athletic trainer, though he is not practicing at University of Mobile. Coach Campbell spends most of his time coaching and mentoring players with his wife and assistant, Amber, by his side. He is actively involved in USA Volleyball through Club Bomba, a group of traveling volleyball teams. Campbell has earned both IMPACT and CAP I Certification. He also works with Amber to conduct tryouts and coach for the Gulf Coast Region High Performance Program. Assistant
Volleyball Coach Amber Campbell, who graduated from the University of the Cumberlands in 2004 with a degree in public health, is really an assistant coach in name only. Her various duties indicate an involvement level usually reserved for head coaches. Campbell is actively involved in planning and coordinating practices, while she also designs and implements the weight training program for the team. She works closely with the team's setters during games and practices, and joins with husband and head coach Jon Campbell for game management and overseeing statisticians. Campbell adds 9 seasons of head coaching experience to this husband-and-wife duo and has committed to training life skills and developing good character in players while improving their volleyball ability. She works through USA Volleyball where she has attained IMPACT and CAP I certification. Since moving to Mobile in 2005, Campbell has become actively involved in the Gulf Coast chapter of USA Volleyball through Club Bomba, a local volleyball club with teams ages 10-18. She also conducts a Training Team Program that is designed to develop players that are unable to travel with club volleyball. Campbell is also the Gulf Coast Region Director of High Performance Volleyball, the Olympic pipeline from which our USA teams draw. |
