MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Mobile
women’s basketball team (11-4) defeated a tough Berry College
Vikings team, 68-59. Playing for the first time in two weeks,
the Rams shook off the rust in the first half and put the
Vikings away in the second to win their final pre-conference
game of the season.
Never conceding more than a 7-point
lead, the Rams cut the Vikings lead to only one, as they went
into the locker rooms down 33-32 at the half.
In the second half the Rams caught fire
as they went an 8-0 run early in the second half to open up a
42-35 lead. With 11:00 to go in the game, Mobile went on an 8-2
run that saw the Rams hold their biggest lead of the game,
60-45.
A 3-pointer by Berry’s Cori Cason as
time ran out was too little too late as the Vikings drop to 11-3
on the season.
The Rams, who open up conference play at
William Carey on Jan. 9, were led by Paula Dill’s 15 points.
Laurie Simon finished 14 with Sasha Lilly getting 12.
The Vikings were led by Deana Duncan’s
19 points and Sheri Brooks’ 16.
