Coston’s New Career High Three Short Of A School Record As Rams Win

MOBILE, Ala. – William Carey College (4-8, 0-2) had no answer for UM’s Crystal Coston as the junior forward unleashed a 35-point and 10-rebound performance on the Crusaders en route to a 86-70 win Saturday evening at Pharr Gymnasium. The win extends the Rams’ unbeaten home record to 6-0.

Mobile grabbed control for good on a Coston field goal with 12:40 remaining in the first half. The bucket sparked an 11-3 run that saw the Rams’ lead reach 10, 28-18. UM took a 42-28 lead into the half.

While Mobile would watch their lead get trimmed down to four, 54-50 with 11:25 remaining, the Rams held off the Crusaders for the convincing win.

Forwards Kinga Rybarczyk scored 23 points and grabbed 11 boards while Rheonda Leary got 11 to help lead the Rams’ frontal attack.

Kristie McKinley led William Carey with 18 points while Leronica Evans added 14. Amanda McGill and Reshena Holloway each finished with 11.

The Rams (11-3, 2-0) will play at Loyola University on Monday, Jan. 10 with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
