Goodly Named National Player of the Week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Danielle Goodly of Mobile (Ala.) has been selected as the NAIA Women's Basketball Division I Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008.
On the week, Goodly and the Lady Rams played GCAC foes William Carey and Tougaloo College, winning both games in overtime to start the conference portion of the season 2-0.
In the opener at William Carey, the junior guard put up an impressive all-around game, picking up 16 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals. She was also instrumental in picking up the overtime "w." It was a deep ball from Goodly that gave Mobile its first lead in overtime, a lead they would not relinquish.
At Tougaloo, Goodly poured in 26 points for the Rams and again hit big shots down the stretch to help pick up another road win in conference play. With Mobile trailing by one in overtime, Goodly calmly stepped to the charity stripe and drained a pair of free throws with 50 seconds remaining to give Mobile a one point lead that they would hold.
Overall, the Lady Rams are 6-7 on the season and next play at Dillard University Thursday, January 10th at 5:30 pm. She was also named GCAC Player of the Week. Goodly is the second Lady Ram to earn National Player of the Week honors; Emmerentia Ledwaba won it last year. |
