Lady Rams Win Again

NEW ORLEANS, Louis-- The University of Mobile women's basketball won its 4th consecutive game with a convincing 75-57 victory at Gulf Coast Athletic Conference foe Dillard University Thursday evening.

The game was basically a tale of two halves. In the first half, the home-standing Lady Blue Devils used some hot-shooting and a late surge to go into half time with a 35-30 lead. Mobile led 30-25 late, but Dillard responded with a 10-0 run to build up the lead. The Lady Blue Devils shot 50% in the half compared to 37% for the Lady Rams, and they also knocked down 5-of-6 three point attempts.

The second half was a much different story, as Mobile doubled up the Lady Blue Devils to the tune of 45-22, and used a suffocating defense to hold Dillard to 28% from the field and force 12 turnovers.

Mobile took its first lead of the final period when Jenee Washington put the ball in the basket to put Mobile ahead 40-39 at the 16:25 mark. Over the next 12 minutes, Mobile strengthened its lead with a 24-10 run to go up by 15 points.

In the half, the Lady Rams shot 48% from the field and hit on 3-of-5 three-point attempts.

The Lady Rams got help from a number of spots, with 5 players finishing with 10+ points. Anna Maddox and Danielle Goodly led the way with 13 points apiece, while Angela Bounds added 11 points, Crystal Hutchinson finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Sherri McIntosh chipped in 10 points.

Mobile moves to 7-7 (3-0) and next plays at home Saturday, January 12th at 5:00 pm versus Southern University at New Orleans.
