GCAC Announces Basketball Players of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Gulf Coast Athletic Conference today announced Crystal Coston as the Player of the Week for the week of January 3-9, 2005.

Coston averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and 2.5 steals in the Lady Ram's victories over Dillard and William Carey. Coston led Mobile by scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against No. 20 Dillard University on Thursday night in a 66-63 win. On Saturday night against William Carey College, Coston came two points shy of a school record by scoring 35 points and she accounted for her second double-double of the week by grabbing another ten rebounds in an 86-70 win over the Lady Crusaders. In two games, she scored 46 points total and grabbed 20 rebounds to go along with five steals.

Averaging just over 20 ppg on the season, the 6-0 junior forward from Thomasville, Alabama, is on pace to surpass Olivia Crawford’s career scoring record in 2005 should the Rams advance to the NAIA National Tournament.
