Lady Rams Top Lady Pilots 73-66

SHREVEPORT, La.--The LSUS Lady Pilots (7-11) played host to the
17th ranked University of Mobile Lady Rams (14-3) Saturday night at the
Dock. The Lady Pilots could not stop a late second half run by the Lady
Rams who built an 11 point lead with six minutes remaining. The Lady
Pilots made a run of their own to cut the lead to as little as five,
but fell short as the Lady Rams won by a final score of 73-66.
In the first half, the two teams traded baskets and headed to the locker
room tied 31-31. The Lady Pilots were led by Renalda Stafford who had
nine points and four rebounds. Amanda Castle pitched in with five points,
five rebounds, four blocks and two steals. The Lady Pilots managed to
force 10 Lady Ram turnovers,
but failed to take care of the ball themselves, turning the ball over
14 points. Kinga Rybarczyck led the Lady Rams with 12 points and six
rebounds.
The Lady pilots finished 12-30 from the field and were 4-of-13 from
beyond the three point line. LSUS connected on 3-of-4 free throw attempts.
The
Lady Rams struggled from the free throw line connecting on only 4-of-10
attempts, but managed to shoot 41 percent from the field and 1-of-3 from
the three point line.
The Lady Rams went on a 9-0 run and stretched their lead to 11 points
with under six minutes remaining. The Lady Pilots faught to the end connecting
on two three pointers to cut the Ram lead to as little as five, but fell
73-66 to the Lady Rams.
The Lady Pilots finished shooting 37 percent from the field and connected
on 8-of-28 from beyond the three point line. Renalda Stafford led the
Lady pilots with 23 points on 9-of-23 shooting. Dyamond Hogg finished
with
16 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Kendera Monette rounded out
the
Pilots offense with 10 points and five rebounds.
Crystal Coston led the Lady Rams with 18 points and a game high 15 rebounds.
Sandra Kostandinovich and Kinga Rybarczyk each had 13 points. The Lady
Rams finished shooting 47 percent from the field which included connecting
on 5-of-11 three point attempts.
The Rams will stay on the road as they square off nationally 10th-ranked
Xavier University on Thursday, Jan. 20, at 5:30 p.m. in The Barn.
