Mobile falls to Dillard in overtime

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The University of Mobile (17-5, 8-2) got a layup from Crystal Coston with 10 seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime but it was Dillard's Ebony Owens who scored with just seven seconds left in overtime to lift Dillard to the 82-80 victory Thursday night in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The Rams, trailed by as many as 12 points but used a 15-0 run in midway through the second half to regain the lead at 55-52 with just 8:52 remaining.

However, the Lady Devils (14-5, 6-4) would rally back and take a three point lead with less than a minute to go.

With 17 seconds remaining in regulation, Coston made the front end of a double bonus free throw and missed her second attempt.  After Dillard was unable to maintain possession of the rebound, Coston would hit a layup with 10 seconds left sending the game into overtime.

In overtime, Owen scored five of her game-high 27 points including the game winner with just over seconds remaining.

In a last gasp effort, the Rams got the inbound pass into Kinga Rybarczyk who received the ball at mid-court and dribbled to the three-point line where she attempted to get a pass to Coston that was intercepted and time ran out.

Coston led Mobile with 20 points and 14 rebounds while Rheonda Leary came off the bench to score 15 points of her own.  Rybarczyk and Jessica Barber also scored 13 points each.

Mobile returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 5 against William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  The Rams won the last meeting with the Lady Crusaders 86-70 at home on Jan. 10
