Coston's 30-point performance leads Rams past Lady

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- The University of Mobile’s Crystal Coston
scored 30 points in leading the Rams to a 73-62 win over LSU-Shreveport
in the second round of the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament
Wednesday morning in New Orleans, Louisiana.
The Lady Pilots, who defeated Tougaloo College 57-52 yesterday afternoon
in the 7 vs. 10 match-up, led the Rams 33-29 at halftime and scored the
opening basket of the second half to take a six point lead.
However, the Rams (24-7) exploded on a 12-2 run over the next three
minutes capped off by a Coston jumper putting the Rams ahead by four,
41-37 at
the 16:42 mark of the second half.
LSUS answered with a 5-0 run to regain the lead at 42-41 and the lead
went back-and-forth two more times and then was tied at 46-all before
the Rams were able to go ahead for good at 49-46 on a three-pointer by
Erica Martens.
Coston grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds to go along with her game-high
30 points and King Rybarczyk recorded a double-double of her own by scoring
14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
Martens chipped in with eight points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field
and Courntey Craft also added eight points. Mobile will play again tomorrow, March 3 at 2 p.m. against the winner
of Spring Hill College and Loyola University.
The Rams swept the Badgers in two previous meetings this season and
split two games with Loyola. |
