Lady Rams Ink Local Star
MOBILE, Ala-- The University of Mobile women's basketball program announced the signing of local product Gerica Johnson for the 2008-09 season.
Johnson played prep ball at Faith Academy and transfers to the Lady Rams after a year apiece at Pensacola Junior College and, most recently, Bishop State.
The 5-8 guard brings impressive numbers to the Lady Rams after averaging 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists at Bishop State last season. The 20 points per game was good enough to lead the region.
"She'll bring experience, athleticism, and a better quality of basketball player at this level and we are fortunate to have her," University of Mobile Head Coach Michael Berry said. "She'll bring experience, scoring and defense; she's the total package."
The junior-to-be was named Team MVP, 1st-Team All-Conference in the ACCC and 1st-Team All-Region last season. Johnson will play shooting guard for Mobile.
"She had her options, but chose to stay closer to home," Berry said. |
