Basketball Falls to AUM at the Buzzer
MOBILE,
Ala. -- The University of Mobile women’s basketball team (5-3)
lost on a last second shot 59-57 to Auburn University Montgomery
(AUM) Monday night at Pharr Gymnasium.
The
Rams, who fought back to tie the game after being behind by 11
points with just four minutes remaining, turned the ball over underneath
their own basket with just three seconds remaining and AUM’s Crystal
Smith put in the game-winner as time expired.
Despite
leading by seven points at halftime and by as many as 11 in the
first half, the Rams went cold to start the second half. AUM
ran out on an 18-2 run to begin the second half before Trevor Chandler
sank two three-throws at the 10:01 mark cutting the Lady Senators
lead to 42-34. Chandler led all Ram scorer’s with 15 to go
along with 10 rebounds.
Also
posting in double digits in the scoring column was Sasha Lilly
with 13 points and Sherie Lattimore who finished with 10.
Mobile
drops to 5-3 on the season and will next be in action on Tuesday,
Dec. 2 when the Rams travel to Montgomery for the rematch with
AUM.
AUM
is now 4-0 on the season. The Lady Senators were led by Smith,
who finished the game with 18 points.
