MOBILE, Ala. - Led by Laurie Simon’s hot
hand, the University of Mobile women’s basketball team improved
their record to 7-3 with a 65-37 win over Shorter College.
Leading wire-to-wire, Mobile held as much as a 31-point lead in
the first game of the Spring Hill College Port City Classic.
The Rams went on a 9-2 run with 16:00 minutes
remaining in the first half and never looked back.
Laurie Simon, who went 3-of-6 from no-man’s land,
led the Rams with 15 points. Paula Dill (9 points and 5 rebounds), Jessica
Barber (6 points and 5 assists), and Kinga Rybarczyk (6 points and 8
rebounds) also turned in solid performances for 15th-ranked
Mobile.
The Rams will finish out the tournament with a
game against a tough 11th-ranked Brescia University at 1 p.m.
on Saturday, Dec. 14.
