UM Women About To Start 2007-08 Campaign

MOBILE, Ala—The University of Mobile women’s basketball team will start the 2007-08 season on the road this weekend and will do so as the #33 team in the nation.

The preseason NAIA Top-25 poll was released today and Mobile received 14 votes, placing the team between Montana Tech and Westmont (Calif.).

The Lady Rams went 20-12 last season and return 4 players from last year’s squad. Danielle Goodly, Sherri McIntosh and Angela Bounds are returning starters, while Johnitia Williams will provide solid minutes in the backcourt rotation.

With such a young team, Mobile will get a quick test, as the Lady Rams face a pair of ranked teams this weekend in Henderson, TN at the Freed-Hardeman Classic.

Freed-Hardeman is ranked #8, and the Lady Rams’ other opponent at the tournament Cumberland (Tenn.) is ranked #15 and coming off a trip to the NAIA National Tournament finals last season.

UM fans will get a chance to see the Lady Rams in action at home Wednesday, November 7th at 6:00 pm when #23 Auburn-Montgomery comes to town.
